A outstanding camera!
I'm heading out one day for my 5th embed in Afghanistan and this should be the perfect camera. In the over and done with few days I've taken 500+ photos and am totally impressed by the prosperity of operability and clarity of photos. On "sports" mode, I can be taking photos as I hike; the 'movie' mode is awesome, and even the night shots are remarkably free and crisp (like an Afghan evening!)

Yes, it would have been strict for Canon to include their 180 page manual, but frankly I got sufficient info from their little pamphlet to get me started. Then I downloaded the guide to my laptop, so I've got it if I need it.

This should be a better camera than the typical SLR; no lenses to change in adverse conditions, and no bulky lenses to execute. Hint: buy decent rechargeable battery set; you'll be taking a lot of picts with this camera!

Now I'll in fact be able to 'get the word out'. S/F

Dr Z. fly-past of Canon SX20is
Sheerest easy to use. My only complaint is that the instruction manual is on a disc which can be downloaded to a processor, but with no printed manual, looking up something on the fly is impossible. I was gifted to print the manual (4 pages on an 8 1/2 x 11 film) and that can fit into my camera bag (folded). It is a chore to do, however. The petite wheel on the back of the camera can sometimes be accidentally turned while searching for buttons, but not a big question. Picture quality is VG for an entry camera and the 20x zoom is great. All in all, fine worth the price.

this camera is fearful!
I am so thrilled with this purchase. I don't need to go see a professional photographer anymore for photos of my family. No more spending HUNDREDS of dollars at a professional anymore. I can do it dexter in my own home for lots less! This camera does it all. delightful, clear, crisp pictures!

AND, I was in the process of buying my first cuttingly, I went to see my dream house three hours away. because of this camera, I was expert to see the peak of the roof on the third floor so closely that I felt like I could reach out and approach it while standing on the ground. I saw every imperfection of this "hallucinate house". I decided it needed to much work and it wasn't significance the money they were asking for it. Thanks so much Canon for serving me with a major financial decision! I did not buy that house. If I had and later rest out it needed all those repairs I'd be in debt forever!

Well benefit the money!!! I love this camera!!

Loved it
I delight my Canon SX20IS, my first megazoom camera. It takes awesome pics and peace of use is good. Auto mode is good for most cases. Mega Zoom works solid. Photography for me is m babies photo. And i love when i get cute pictures from this camera. still knowledge about features it has and Video quality is again very adequate and you can zoom in and out during recording. In-House shots are also breathtaking.

Certainly WORTH IT!!!!
Following looking at a bunch of cameras, reviews, prices and features, and definitely decided to go with the Canon SX20IS. It finally arrived today, and I couldn't shelved to take pictures. It was very easy to get it started, I didn't oblige to look at any manual to start taking pictures. I read some reviews of population saying that the camera doesn't take good pictures in sports car mode, well, I didn't have any problem taking stupefying pictures in auto mode. All my pictures came out clear and Dialect right nice.
I tested out the video recording, and was very impressed with the eminence of the video (of course HD), and the voice. It really picks up on everything round you.
Many reviewers also stated that they had problems with the lens cap falling off, I can't say too much on every side that yet, since I just got the camera today, but from what I can see, it holds immovably to the lens, and you can actually hear the click when it is attached.
All in all I'm hellishly happy with my choice, and can't wait to see what else this camera has in retailer for me.
I'll keep you updated.
I would definitely recommend this camera to personality, for the price, you can't get a better deal ;)

No more Canons
I deceive used Canon cameras for many years now. I am starting to not like them any longer. I moved to this from the SX5 IS. I had to sire it replaced immediately due to it taking double exposures and only putting out one photo. The Canon person on their phone was, as he put it, confused. I sent it back and my second one was also horrible. I used it on barely every setting and and the photos were horrible. If you ask me, I'm sorry, but most of the pics on the Amazon era for this product are fuzzy and not very flattering to a $500.00 cost out point.

SX1 1S, big pound for your bucks
The keester line--a great and functional camera with a lousy operations directions. Fire the technical writer and keep the camera!

I bought this camera because lugging my Canon HD video camera and the EOS 50 with a a handful of of flashes and a tripod just does not work when hiking into wilds areas. Since I am familiar with advanced Canon cameras, I did not catch sight of the operations of this camera totally unfamiliar. It does accept some special bells and whistles in the automatic shooting modes that I had to profession with before feeling comfortable. The operations manual looks more like a map for an online tutorial and refers at issue areas to a series of remote pages. This is highly irritating when figuring out questions like how to set HD versus regular video recordings. I urge there was some way to put a basic UV filter on the zoom to protect the lens. If not, I am very satisfied with the camera.

My practice with the camera has been circumscribed to weekends, but I have been very pleased with the photo prominence and color renditions on still shots. I actually hand held the video at a sheep dog attempt, and the image stabilizer was wonderful at full zoom. A tripod would comprise been better, but I failed the boy scout motto on that lapse.

This is not a camera for impatient amateurs. It requires time and publicity to detail to get the advantages over the SX20, but it does exactly what I have occasion for.

Some populace are just never satisfied
While I am unwavering you can generally find lemons in every product, this camera is a joy to own if it is in most luxurious working order.

A note about the battery life is don't try to use commonplace AA batteries unless you are just in a pinch. They will terminating no time at all. Invest in hi quality Ni Mh or whatever they are called rechargables. They conclusive Waaaaay longer than alkaline. I am sure the camera heads already knew this but the info may succour another non-camera head like me.

Friendly camera for Elph upgrader with kids
Can an all-in-one camera do it all? No. By a long way, what do you expect from a camera that costs as much as a HD camcorder can. How is it as a camera? Upgrading from a Canon SD870IS (digital Elph), it is twinkling.

Pros:

High quality flash compared to Elph. Indoor shots are much nicer. The Elph would coat out the colors, whereas this camera provides pictures with subtle color indoors.

Picture quality and zoom are far superior to undersized point and shoot cameras. There are some reviews claiming slight picture quality. I did not compare directly to the more expensive SLR cousins, but there are thorough reviews with image comparisons on sites like steves-[...]. They did not take heed of artifacts and other issues that people are claiming.

Parents, you hand down love the "sport" mode. There is no focus time when you are outdoors. If you see a photograph you like, then you can just snap it right away. The pictures look prodigious (as long as you have plenty of light). There is another configuration where you can focus on a person and as the person moves it will trace the focus of the individual. This mode is nice for following your absorb child around too, but it's a bit tedious when there are multiple kids nearly and you have to tell the camera which face to track.

AA batteries: Get exhilarated quality rechargeable batteries and you will be satisfied (e.g. Sanyo Eneloop). No worrying thither having to charge proprietary batteries.

Cons:

Video rank suffers indoors. The big problem is the video loses focus usually when the lighting is not bright. Under conditions where a well-adjusted camcorder would be fine, the focus can fade in and out of the subject. I young woman having an add-on light to increase lighting. I use a headlamp when indoors to redress.

Outdoors, the video works much better. It won't replace an HD camcorder, but you can flat get some nice clips.

Overall, the camera takes glorious photos and the video is a nice option to have, especially outdoors where it is unfailing.

Top Rated Emphasize & Shoot Digital Camera!
Our new Canon SX1 produced some outgoing HD videos and photos on weekend. It is the best point and shoot digital camera we own so far. It is not as large as the SLR and it is less complicated too. The 20x zoom is very useful. The HD video and photo are much improve than our 12.5 MP pocket size point&shoot digital camera.

We are successfully produced superb HD video and still photos. It is edited using Cyberlink PowerDirector 8 and it is recorded on the blu-ray disc. I compel ought to to say PD8 is a great tool to edit HD video and photo. The 1080P video and photos looks grand on the 56" HDTV.

Without coffee, my hand is too shaky to offer a stable video. When my hand is stable, the HD video is extraordinary. My next purchase will be a nice and sturdy tripod. The HD video and photo here are taken with SX1:

Exceptional Camera!
I completely love this camera, and I've been trying to figure out how to get indoor pictures to sleep out as great as the outdoor ones. (I know it is operator trespass and I am still experimenting) I get a lot of compliments on how great the pictures look, first of all the pictures I've taken and used the zoom. The best ones so far are of my son sledding - I'm established at the bottom of a big hill and the pictures look like I'm standing aright in front of him as he is coming down the hill. It was worth every penny!

Marked Camera, Bad Kit
This camera is the whole shooting match and more then expected. Considering my last SLR was an Olympus OM2 with several Vivatar lenses, filters etc.
I think it's all been packed to another place for 8 or 9 years and I have been using a 3.1 mp point and assassinate.

So I'm chomping at the bit to get back to some creative picture taking.
The getting started instructions smokescreen how to set the date and turn the camera on and not much else. If you want more, like I did, you'll partake of to print out the 180 page manual from the Canon web site.

The on the contrary fault I found was the packaging and items in the (Kit) from Beach Camera.
It appears the camera is new but the 4 AAA's were objective thrown in the box loose.
The tripod will never be trusted satisfactorily to use and wasn't the one shown in picture as well as the card reader which is the rate of a jump drive with a card slot on the edge likewise not the one shown.
The cleaning kit was fluid small cloth and q-tips not the one shown
The Bag was the one in drawing but camera fits very snug if you remove lens obscurity.
No room for much else. One zippered pouch.
Sorry I ordered the KIT for the $20 more from Bank.

I should have gone with my first thought valid the camera and Amazon...live and learn
But the camera was what I wanted and I don't regard as you will regret it should you decide to buy it.

Canon SX29IS Decamp
This is a massive buy from a reliable company. The camera, case, video use strategy act openly is great. The only criticism I have is the Tripod. The tripod is adjacent to 5 inches tall and probably worth about one dollar. If you set the camera on a post it may even be higher and just as stable. But overall this grip was a very good buy.

Adroit Camera...Nice accessories!
I righteous got my Canon Powershot yesterday. I haven't had a lot of time to play with it, but I am thrilled with it so far!! I pleasure to take pictures, but wouldn't even call myself an amature photographer...perhaps pre-amature. This camera was really easy to use...took close to 10 seconds right out of the box. It is pretty idiot proof for the pre-amature. You can right-minded set it to Auto and the camera decides what configuration is best for the case. But.....I am excited to have the other features that I can customize as I learn more! It is the incomparable camera to grow and learn with if you aren't ready for the expense and hot potato of an DSLR Camera. I am super excited about my purchase!! The zoom is surprising and it takes GREAT pictures in the dark!! The flash works admirably to be so small!! We took some pics and some video and hooked it up to our 55" HDTV and it looked Important!!!
I got the camera and accessories for $379 and the next day they were selling it for $389. The camera bag is a tipsy fit, but ok for me b/c I wouldn't want a huge, bulky bag! The 4G memory card is ok, but it is but a class 2. The mini-tripod is cool. I think the garnishing were great for the extra $10, but I don't know if it would be advantage the extra $20 that they were selling it for 24hr later.
Like I said, I am would require myself pre-amature, so I don't have lots of detail on the advanced settings on the camera. It is serious and I can't wait to learn more! I also have to say Beachcamera was remarkable!! I ordered Monday and had it in hand Thursday. Everything was there and upstanding as I expected!! Great service!!
