    This camera has 9 lives!
First place off, this is a great basic point & shoot camera that doesn't press for a lot of fiddling with for good pictures. It does have a lot of settings you can use if you positive what you're doing, but the auto mode actually works rather well in most circumstances. The picture quality is above run-of-the-mill for cameras within this price range, and it's nice to compel ought to a view finder on those very sunny days when you can't see the sieve. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I've really beat it all to hell. And assuage it keeps on going... Doesn't seem to eat batteries the way some of my other cameras in the prior have done. I got a bit of sand in the lens and it wouldn't shut - I stiff the lens closed and left it alone for a day. Gave it a good dusting and powered it rearwards up and it worked just fine! Same thing happened once more with the same result. THEN it got completely soaked when it popped out of my pelican casing when doing a random waterfall slide while hiking... not just was it completely submerged, but it skidded across a lot of rough rock. I intelligence for sure it was toast. I took the batteries and SD card out and left it out for a day to dry. In the rear 2 days the camera works just as well as before with one call into question: I can't seem to figure out how to keep the date/time set - which can be a PIA when uploading 600+ pictures. Regardless I was truly amazed - I was thinking it was my opportunity to upgrade to a waterproof/shockproof camera I had my eye on but the camera gods don't muse over it's time for that apparently. So while there are some things I don't like (a bit chunky, can't carry in my pocket - panoramic could work better - at times get grainy pics randomly even though it's likely manipulator error), this has been a fantastic camera all in all - very cool. Would definitely recommend it.
    Devoted camera
My dad has had this camera for awhile now, and it in any event works REALLY well. We've never had any problems with the camera. I indeed like this camera better than my Kodak EasyShare C7430. Now I'm in the manipulate of getting myself a new camera and I'm not really sure what I call for to get. As much as I love my dad's, I'm not sure if I want to get the same camera he has. In actually, I think it's time I give his camera back to him. Two things I Light of one's life about the Canon Power Shot are the zoom and video features. I inclination the fact you can just push the button and make a video. I likewise like the zoom feature on the Canon Power Shot. I want a new camera that has the video be involved and a better zoom on it.
    Dejected after 18 months
We purchased this camera 18 months ago for our voyage to Hawaii. It took some great scenic pictures. Indoor pictures are option story,we had noticed the Red-Eye on subjects was very bad, even with the Red-Eye settings set to On. Every collection of photo's we had taken we have had to use photo editing software to remove the red-eye trouble afterwards. Today the internal flash quit working. I distorted the batteries, pulled the CMOS Battery and let it power down in hopes it would reboot. With new Batteries the shimmer still would not work. Since we were not overly-impressed with the mark of the pictures anyways, I salvaged the Batteries and the SD Card and tossed the camera in the scraps. We will not even check into getting this decided.

Our Kodak DX4530 is 8 years older, been dropped numerous times, been thrown on luck, rainstorms, hunting and hiking trips, tossed around in backpacks, suitcases and glove boxes and uninterrupted forgotten in a hot vehicle for two weeks and still works to this day. The Canon PowerShot had a pampered and altogether easy life in comparison and was not ever dropped, been wet or thrown. I would ponder looking at another camera before considering the purchase of this one.
    Attraction it
I compel ought to had this camera for some time now and it is still fabulous. I bought more for my household ( mom, etc.) and everyone loves it. Of course there are better out there, but it is a illustrious buy and pics come out clear and beautiful. The batteries need charging Day in and day out as pretty much all digitals. keep extra batteries nearly always that are already charged and ready to swap. Would positively recommend this camera either way.

    Sound little camera
I like the take the measure of of this camera -- perfect for dropping in a pocket on a trick. It takes pretty good, even some great pictures. Functionally, my no greater than complaint is that the zoom isn't quite as good as I would like, but then another time, I knew the specs coming in. I don't use the software so I can't comment on that. I'm a Mac owner and iPhoto does what I need it to do, so if you have PhotoShop or iPhoto you all things considered won't use the software that is bundled with it either.
    Worst for eventide mode
Bought this camera endure year. Okay for day light photos and worst for night craze. I tried different settings but still could not use this camera to swallow pictures during the night time.
    It's an okay camera
The reviews for this are creditable, but I am not to happy with my camera. I did have a Fugi finepix camera to come the Olympus and the pics were great! The camera broke so I unquestioned to try this one. The pics aren't as good as my other one so I would only leave off this one a 3 star.

I am picky about my pictures. I like the objects to be centered and showing specifics. A lot of times when I take a picture with this camera it turns out watery. You are supppsed to focus on the image you want take and push the knob down halfway so the camera will focus then away with the pic. A lot of times I just want the pic so I just point and shoot, so it turns out blury. A lot populace probably would not notice this. If you try and blow the picture up and pull a proof pix it out, that's when you can tell.

This also doesn't must the little eye piece you can look into. Just a big screen on the burdening someone. That doesn't bother me unless I am trying to take a exact likeness outdoors on a really bright sunny day. It's hard to see the screen if it's to resplendent outside.

The video quality is horrible too. Very grainy and granite-like to see.

They say you can use the digital zoom, but when you try to, the pic isn't very clear. If you are upright starting out taking pictures then go for this camera. If you are into pictures and lack better quality, I would go with something else.
    Best Traveling Companion...
This camera has met my expectations in so profuse ways. I should note I never really wanted to start looking for a new camera when I started looking for this one, but a camping catch out (where I actually stored my camera in the tent!) sent my Canon to its matter of life. This was the second digital camera I'd lost to outdoor disclosing. No more. I'm now a loyal Olympus fan.

Thus far, my Olympus has been thoroughly the rain and cloud forests of Costa Rica, through different feet of freshly falling snow in Romania, and on many a camping trigger and trail. And I'm just as happy with it as day one.

The images are crip and lucid, it fits perfectly in my jean pockets, and I like the fact that the lens withdraws within the camera to shun scratches. Battery life has been outstanding. It seems to be such an end with so many electronic devices, but I've found that I can stick hundreds of pictures with my 810 without a hitch. Now that I have in mind about it, on my recent trip to Romania, I was snapping away with the camera without an electrifying converter or spare battery and never ran out of batteries over my 11 generation.

At first I was a little disappointed that I couldn't find a weatherproof camera with a viewfinder, but I've develop very used to the LCD digital display as of late, and it hasn't proven a can of worms.

If there is one thing that I would like to change nearly this camera, it's the curved edges. Sure, they look piece-goods e freight. But say you want to take vertically-oriented image in the middle of the tenebrosity? You can't set the camera on a level surface with the curves edges on the sides (and you can't stick up it in your hands, or the image will blur due to the long disclosing), though you can shoot horizontally. I guess I could get a tripod, but this is a nucleus-and-shoot camera...

And if the worst I can do is to complain about a camera's capacity to shoot a particular orientation in the middle of the night...not bad, right?

    Olympus Stylus 810
This camera got grievous reviews in Consumer Reports, and I'm sure it's perfect for some, but it's far too hesitant to get good pictures of active kids. The "weatherproof" feature would've been amicable, but I exchanged it for something faster.

Canon PowerShot A570IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom?

    or

Canon PowerShot A580 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Visual Zoom

    What's the difference?
What do the rare megapixles mean exactly?

    Which would YOU buy?

    THANKS
    OR this one

Canon PowerShot A590IS 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Visual Image Stabilized Zoom

I would buy the Canon A570 IS upon the other cameras.

In fact, I own one. It's a adequate camera, and since I own a lot of SLRs and use them a lot, I can perceive you that this A570 IS is a superb application and shoot and a great value for the money.

The reformation between 7.1 and 8 megapixels is nothing. You won't see the differences on the guard or in a print.

The A570 IS has image stabilization. That's a big plus over the A580. And the A570 IS is less expensive than the A590 IS with no distinction in image quality.

So, buy the cameras in this fellowship:
Canon A570 IS, then the A590 IS, and last the A580.

I can apprise you it's not a question of which one I *would* buy. For me, it's the one i DID buy. And that's the A570 IS.
