    Description

The greatest zoom and a whole lot more. The ultra-powerful 12x visual zoom on the PowerShot S5 IS means you’ll get the shot you want with no compromise, yet that’s on the other hand the beginning of what makes this camera so exciting. The S5 IS is well-to-do with many of Canon’s latest advanced technologies, including the DIGIC III Portrait Processor, so both still images and movies are rendered with thin detail and luminous clarity. And now ambitious photographers have honest greater creative latitude thanks to an included hot shoe adapter that allows you to connect Canon Speedlite EX Series external flashes.

How quick is the shutter speed for Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera?

I am looking to buy a Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera and i need one that takes pictures unequivocally rapidly as i am taking pics of puppies....is this a probity camera? Also looking to get into photography? is it obedient for that? What is the recommended price for one of these babies? thanks

What you are referring to is in fact 'Shutter Lag' and not, Shutter Assist. And, there is no such thing as a Powershot 'Pro' series S5 IS. It's by the skin of one's teeth the Powershot S5 IS.

It's basically a point & shoot camera which in the same way happens to have full manual wheel and a 12x optical zoom lens.
It's a speedy enough camera, but you will probably be perfect disappointed with it's low-light indoor shots (doesn't matter what over ISO 200-400 has way too much noise).

A more wisely camera for 'getting into photography' is a dSLR, such as the 400D (XTi) or 450D (XSi). With the satisfactorily lens, you will have no trouble shooting indoors, handheld and without skedaddle.
And, these cameras don't even get to worry about shutter lag...because they take none. But, I doubt if you're ready for a dSLR...

The S5 IS should be ok as hanker as you keep the ISO very low and make sure you deceive plenty of available light.
