At the back 1 Year fell apartI got this camera in January of 2009. And I LOVED it! Took strange pictures (good enough to sell - I'm a photographer with myriad cameras) portable and the battery lasted a long time. BUT at the inception of February all of a sudden I'd put batteries in and they would last near an hour. Next thing I know I pull it out of it's case and the whitish-grey button on top flipped off on the street and I couldn't find it. It still worked, notwithstanding. Now when I put new batteries in they last about 3 or 4 pictures and then are tired out. It's over a year, so warranty is shot. It makes me so sad. I loved this short camera. Now I'm leery of getting another little canon.
camera lens got stuck at the rear of 1 year
Just one year behind schedule we bought this camera we were taking a picture and all of a sudden the lens got stuck in extended position. We had just taken a illustration a minute before, then this happened. The camera doesn't occupation anymore, it makes some noises like trying to change the lens, but it doesn't do anything. I found similar complaints hither this and other Canons in the web after searching for the error report "lens error" or "stuck lens".
Other than that it was a so-so camera while it worked, not with it to recharge after a flash (using alkaline batteries). The bring into focus wasn't too great (even with the image stabilization high point) and the colors were not as vivid as a Panasonic that we had before.
Battery-operated shorting
Six months at the back of purchase, the battery began shorting- meaning new batteries would terminating less than one hour in the camera.
I sent it in for repairs and it worked comely for about a month or so.
It began shorting again, so I returned it a flawed time.
The lab was unable to duplicate the problem and therefore I was not entitled to a refund or a replacement.
The camera is until now under warranty at this time but this is of no use to me.
I am extremely unsatisfied with Cannon's customer service.
I will not be purchasing unorthodox cannon based on my customer service experience.
Entirely good compromise camera
Our old 5mp Kodak died and we needed a replacement. Since I do a lot of hiking I needed a camera with a viewfinder (for shots in rosy sunlight) while my wife just wanted something unimportant and easy to use. The 2.5" screen is just large enough to content her needs while the viewfinder (although it only renders 78% of the twin) allows me to frame shots in the bright outdoors. Its versatile with a program modus operandi that gives you some measure of control (not bad for a camera at this up) but has an adaquate auto mode. Picture quality is not outstanding but more than sufficient. Indoor pictures can be tricky on automatic mode where it has a direction to want to use a higher ISO than it should. Forcing an ISO of 200 or smaller amount on the Program mode helps a lot. Buttons and menu are fairly amicable to get used to. At 4x it has a slightly longer zoom than many others in its breeding. It feels good in the hand. Consumer Reports liked it better than the 12 MP successor, the A1100. All in all its a profoundly nice under $200 camera.
Unforgivable Camera But S.L.O.W.
Only a Quick point to make -I have 3 cameras for different uses, this is my celebration camera, but unfortunatley it takes too long to recover after it takes a perfect using the flash REGARDLESS of the type/brand AA batteries I use.
So drive have to hunt for a quicker recovering camera.
