Preference this cameraI rapture my Canon Powershot A2000IS! I like it so much that we are now on our third one. The previous two cameras met an initial demise having nothing to do with the camera quality...that is unless you count dog chewing intransigence as a ratable quality.
I/we are not professional, advanced amateurs or otherwise photographers aspiring to be the subsequent Ansel Adams of the pocket camera class. Therefore, this camera has done the whole we have asked, keeping in mind that it isn't a digital SLR. We take taken it hiking, which is convenient because it fits nicely in a help oneself to and is quite durable. As for the battery life, we use lithium batteries and they aftermost many times longer than the standard alkaline batteries, cool when using the flash. I put in an 8 GB memory card and have an in point of fact unlimited number of pictures along with more than 30-minutes of video then. The picture quality is fantastic.
The only reason I didn't class this camera as 5 stars is due to the fact that at times it does fool a longer than desired recovery time after intriguing a flash, and the 3-inch display can be a bit challenging to see when outdoors in cheerful sunlight. I am not sure what is going on inside the camera but at times it commitment take several seconds after taking a photo formerly the camera is ready to take the next. This happens Dialect right infrequently and has not been a big problem.
Overall I would buy this camera over...and have.

Alone 1 'Real' Negative With It
I've owned and hand-me-down a few other Canon point and shoot cameras. Also own a nice Canon D-SLR. Recently bought the A2000 for when convenient use after looking at every other Canon point and shoot within the penalty range.
Here are the PROS and CONS that I've found so far;
PROS:
- Not too petty, not too big. Can still fit in a (guys) pocket pretty easily.
- LARGE examine. 3" is great! Most have 2.5"
- Picture quality. This should be helter-skelter the most important thing right?!
- Ease of use.
- 6x Optical Zoom. Most cameras are at most 3-4x Optical Zoom.
CONS:
#1 CON - LONG delay linking pictures. This may mean you miss a pic or two at times....eek!
- Some smaller cameras out there...if that's what you're looking for.
- Using the partition off all the time means it's using your batteries quicker (vs. a viewfinder on other cameras)
- Uses 2 AA batteries???...alone this doesn't bother me because I don't have to worry upon every buying one of those expensive batteries that meet up with most other point and shoot cameras fluff the road. I just bought 4 rechargables and now I'll have battery backups all the yet and for A LOT less than the cost of the other batteries.
BOTTOM Cable: Go to the store and take a picture or two with the camera. If the delay linking picture taking doesn't bother you and it seems like what you're looking for....buy it. It's definitely a nice camera for the money besides the delay issue.

PROS: Great video dignity
Easy to use
Easy to change functions and formats
Uses SD window-card which are super cheap
No shutter lag, way faster than my HP or Nikon
panic great in my hands
CONS: Battery life is average
bantam on/off button is hard to push
Overall: Buy one for anyone who needs a approving camera for moving objects and doesn't want to buy a separate video camera. I use it on a tripod or merely on the fly.

Adequate camera for in-between folks
I bought this mean guy a year ago because of the 6x optical zoom. As always, Canon makes exclude products that produce excellent quality photos. This camera gave me what the smaller Elf series cameras didn't - lots of visual zoom! It has an "easy mode" that was way too basic so I never habituated to it, as well as an Auto mode and special Program mode. Because I don't like the way minute makes photos look, I would set my P mode to a high ISO and in rotation off the Flash. Of course, the pictures came out granier the higher I made the ISO, but that's to be expected. I preferred it terminated having to deal with overexposed camera flashes (I have in mind most compact cameras, at least, produce photos that are overexposed when using flame).
Sadly, I broke it from what I consider a minor stop in withdraw from to the thinly carpeted floor. The body near the shutter handle got a crack in it which caused the zoom-out, power button, and shine to stop working. FORTUNATELY I had purchased the accidental damage from handling room from the site where I bought the camera (D3LL) and they are sending me a refund. I command not re-purchase this camera, instead I want to try one thats either bigger or smaller, this guy is affectionate of a hybrid child of sorts, not as easy in the hands as an Elf or a bigger SLR-shape camera.
