What is the most important feature for a digital camera? Is mp or optical zoom more imporant for pic quality?

I straight bought the Kodak Easyshare c643. It has 6.1mp, 3x optical zoom, and 2.4" LCD. I am not steady if it would be better to purchase the Cannon Powershot A530, which has 5.0mp and 4x visual zoom. Could anyone explain the benefits of either, and what you would present?
For those of you experienced with either camera, is one a more all drive camera than the other? (indoor & out of doors lighting)

Really the quality of the optics and the physical size of the sensor ( not the megapixel regard ) have the most to do with the quality of the yield. Secondary is how the camera processes the image as far as sharpening and go red in the face adjustment.

As to what the most important emphasize is is much too highly subjective to say one aspect is advantage than another. It really is most up to you as to what advertise is most important. And that depends on how you be deficient in to use the camera and in what situations you'll be shooting in and what your own critical tollerence is for percieved drawbacks.
