Would it be a necessarily bad idea to use the kodak dx7590's firmware in my kodak dx6490?

I from a Kodak Easyshare DX6490 Zoom Digital Camera, and the firmware stinks. That's all I can say. It is 4MP and the 7590 is 5MP. The entirety else is the same. If I could find a way to routine the megapixels in the 7590's firmware down to 4, (and the high regard) would it be possible to use the 7590's firmware? And if plausible, could someone please provide me with a safer way of shifting (or removing completely) the compression of the camera?
Yes, it would be a bad estimation. You have no idea what processing chips are tempered to for the image processing, and using the wrong firmware can padlock up your camera permanently.
As for the compression: special the highest quality jpeg, which leave give you the least amount of compression.
