Customer Reviews
It's a Nikon, what else do you surmise?I purchased one of these cameras. It was a horrifying mistake. Why? Because it's a Nikon. Nikon is known to produce substandard quality products, Remarkably in comparison to Canon, the company that produced my wonderful Digital Mutiny XTI.
The XTI has a REAL learning curve because it is a good camera. There is no scholarship curve to the nikon (or any nikon for that matter). I will never purchase a nikon another time after my horrible experiences with this pile of trash coolpix 995 I've got gathering dust with a dead battery in it. I'll in no way charge that battery again. By the way, the battery life is horrendous.
Image quality is horrible. Good luck getting a decent 3x5 issue quality photo out of the thing.
Zoom? WHAT ZOOM?
And atop all, this thing is SLOW. It takes forever for the camera to carry off a single picture. Want action shots? Not with this noisome ****pile.
If you're about to make the mistake of buying one of these, you're elevate surpass off buying the lowest quality point and shoot Canon on the vend. Cameras from the late 1800's are better than the nikon coolpix 995.
The 'Coolestpix 995' and the 'Coolestpix 5000'
Having owned my Nikon 995 since 2002 and bought a B one in a pawn shop in 2007, I must say it is really superb. I like it gamester than my Nikon Coolpix 5000. I take mostly macro photos: this camera was meant for macros. Fantastic lens! The camera is still sought at the rear of by universities and research facilities because it has a threaded portion in face of the lens for accessories, such as filters and adaptors. I put an adaptor on vein, for example, so I can use my camera on my telescope to take photos of the planets. Terrific fun! You can equally use it on a microscope.
Negative? Well, the battery does not last wish. Keep an extra battery on the charger while you are using your camera.
Nikon 995: pure highly recommended! Great quality does not become out of fashion!
Splendid handy camera
I bought the 995 approximately 4 and a half years ago and have not been disappointed. My only woe is not being able to find a replacement. I have taken wonderfully over 20 000 pictures, mostly work (Hand surgeon), father dropped it a few times, (perhaps that's why its not working as well now) and Inclination IT! Giving me some trouble now, but I would gladly buy a similar new one.
The macro craze is great. The ring flash that comes with it allows uncommonly accurate colour reproduction. Only trouble as someone else mentioned quicker is the start-up time. But this camera is 5 years old... sing it a break!
Not my liking tool
I use this camera at travail, often on occasions when I am sent on assignments I didn't certain about when I went home the evening prior.
This is not my inclination camera for a number of reasons. What bothers me most is the over I receive through the viewfinder. The viewfinder is small, to begin, years only about one square inch. The views are often clouded in shades of red, hoary or black, also, not what you look at with the naked eye.
Turning the camera in partially, like the photo on this page, does not improve matters. I arouse this camera somewhat difficult to manage with rudder being tiny and that abominable viewfinder constantly creating problems for me.
It does command of a like fine pictures, however, and transferring them from the camera to a PC or other media is wholly a matter of plugging in and pushing a button. So it does the job well. If simply it was an equal pleasure while I was using it I could rate this more intelligent.
THE Richest CAMERA EVER
I take been using the 995 since 2001, I am a medical Radiologist, in my m everybody needs a high quality digital camara aid for storing cases. The results using my Nikon 995 compared to other cameras (from my collegues) in the in spite of range are breath taking!! You a get a great Nikor lens, with a precise convenient Makro and so many manual options that makes it absurd to need another camera.
Plus you can have add-ons that the others don't include like the slide reproducer that lets you digitize all the old slides!!. I suffer with literaly taken thousands of pictures and works as good as new. The 995 lets you startle charge when you need to, but also has the automatic ¨SNAPPY¨ methodology for easier shots. It's a must have. After comparing I can't picture 3 years later why would I want to change it for another.
