Very recommendI had purchased this camera (new)before and had it stolen --- I purchased this re-furbished one and hold been extrememly pleased. Great price. No probems -- very recommend.
awful little camera
I'm plumb happy with this little camera and most importantly for me set it easy and simple to understand the controls. Excellent value for the doing to be had as it takes crystal clear pictures with an auto "macro" fad for up-close detail shots of the things I build. As with all things Panasonic, I didn't view much not to like about it.
Cardinal value, hardy little camera
I bought this camera when I was in Port, AK in the middle of winter to take along to the Iditarod race. I didn't yearning to take my Nikon DSLR as I was going to be volunteering, therefore I didn't be informed what to expect as far as accommodations for my things. I was glad I made the procurement, let me tell you.
It has a compact design, but it is weighty and lacks protrusions other than the attribute knob at the top. This is key to keep from things breaking off with run-of-the-mill use. I've dropped this camera several times and it has not broken long ago! When I took it to the aforementioned Iditarod race, I fell on it (hunger story) and it suffered no ill effects. I, however, did!
That was over a year ago, and the camera is even going strong. The functions are easy to use and even though it is an 8 mp, there aren't a entire lot of unnecessary bells and whistles to it. Which is good, since I aversion seeing pretentious point-and-shoots touted with attributes that purely someone using a DSLR should be using. There is absolutely no comparison between the two as far as quality, depth and focus.
But, if you're looking for a cheaper, very much-built camera to carry in your purse or pocket, this is the camera for you. My Cyclopean-grandpa always said Lumix lenses were the nicest, and he was right.
My only gripe is having to use AA batteries. I always try to get cameras with battery-operated packs, but I was in a bind and yada yada. It sucks the power out of those easy on the eyes quickly. But considering I was outside for 8 hours in 10 degree meteorological conditions, the batteries held up well enough to take quite a few pictures and videos.
And a note on the videos, there is no microphone in the camera, so you get some artistic quality silent movies. Can't have everything I guess.
Unremarkable pictures
I've been using a Canon A550 objective and shoot for two years now. It takes amazing pictures but is finicky nearby batteries. I decided to try the Panasonic DMC-LS80S after reading good reviews on this website. I returned the Panasonic this morning. The pictures were fuzzy, noisy, and dull. I am amazed that Canon could get it so upper and that Panasonic could get it so wrong.
Correct Point And Shoot Camera
Bought this camera for frank Point and Shoot ability. Very, very pleased with pictures. Utilized Intelligent Mode for recent trip and only 1 picture out of 90+ came out fuzzy. All others were perfect including motion and low light situations. Freestyle life is awesome, even with flash. Power-on to harm time less than 3 seconds. Couldn't ask for more. Indubitably recommend for a Point and Shoot camera that does all of the exertion but also gives you plenty of options to manually adjust the settings. Discriminative and lite in weight and fits in pocket. No optical view finder is no difficulty even in bright light situations.
