It is if you don't beggary much zoom. At a mere 3.6 visual zoom you go from 28mm to 100.8mm. At 28mm you'll get a marginally wider view than, say, a 35mm but you have to calculate actual focal length by the "products factor" for this camera (if it is 1.6 you're shooting from 44.8mm to 161.28mm. If the lens was a 35mm you'd be shooting from 56mm to 201.6). Give someone the cold shoulder the "digital zoom" unless you're into pitiable quality images.
